Internal Complaints Committee

In compliance with the official gazette of GOI related to “The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition & Redressal) Act, 2013, an “Internal Complaints Committee” has been established by the college. The ‘WomenDevelopmentCell/Women Welfare Cell’ which was established initially in the college to create awareness of the Women’s rights and to empower women, has been now taken over by the “Internal Complaints Committee”.


ICC – has four major wings

  • Women Welfare/Protection:
    1. Function - To promote and nourish a thriving culture for its stakeholders (female staff & students).
    2. Facilities/provisions/schemes: Through physical and online access towards placing grievances by female staff & students.
    3. Beneficiaries because of welfare schemes: All the female staff & students of the college.
  • Gender Sensitization
    • Function - To create awareness pertaining to gender sensitization.
    • Procedure for effective sensitization Through conducting events for women staff & students.
  • Prevention and Prohibition of Sexual Harassment of Women Employes and Students:
    • Function - To provide a conducive platform for the stakeholders to air their grievances.
    • Facilities/channels of complaints and its mechanism to resolve with required formats:
      • Physical Suggestion/Complaint Boxes placed at prominent places in all the five blocks in the college campus.
      • Online Grievance Redressal Portal.
    • Women Grievances & Redressal
    • Function - Ensure timely redressal through the ‘Grievance Redressal System’ in place.
    • Facilities/channels of grievances and its mechanism to resolve with required formats:
      • Physical Suggestion/Complaint Boxes placed at prominent places in all the five blocks in the college campus.
      • Online Grievance Redressal Portal.
    • Physical Suggestion/Complaint Boxes kept in all blocks of the college.
    • Online Grievance Redressal Portal.
    • Action to be taken - Formal or Informal method of grievance redressal mechanism

ICC- Committee Composition:

  • One senior faculty as coordinator.
  • One faculty each from the department of Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmacognosy, Faculty from non-teaching Department.
  • One student from each respective year of B. pharmacy and Pharm- D courses.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Dissemination of information and awareness generation (i.e. to create & communicate a detailed policy).
  • To constitute a sub-committee at the departmental level comprising faculty and student members for the welfare of women .
  • Ensure that the members are trained in both skill & capacity in striving for an equal, safe and harmonious environment.
  • To address and resolve grievances if any, on a timely basis.
  • Prepare an annual report of the departmental women welfare activities and submit it to the authorities.

Co-Ordinator

  • Preparing the sub-committees of faculty & student members for execution of work on women welfare.
  • Organize meetings at regular intervals and at times as per the immediate requirement of complaints received for effective functioning of the cell.
  • Preparing Annual Report and submission to the concerned authority.
  • Procurement of adequate resources for administration & functioning of the cell.
  • Inspire the members to make efforts to maintain gender parity, sexual harassment-free and positive environment in the college campus.

Faculty Members

  • Execute the work assigned during meetings for functioning of the cell.
  • Monitor & support the student members for dissemination of information for awareness generation.
  • Provide training in skill & capacity to all the members in striving for an equal, safe & harmonious environment.
  • To address & resolve grievances if any on a timely basis.
  • Prepare reports of sub-committees of the activities undertaken and submit them to the Co-ordinator.

Student Members

  • Report to faculty members for taking up the work assigned in relation to the functioning of the cell.
  • Seek the guidance & support of the faculty & cell co-ordinator for execution of tasks related to the cell.
  • Remain vigilant while in the campus for prevention of any unwarranted behavior among the students and report the same to faculty/Coordinator on a timely basis in case it is observed.
  • Provide assistance to faculty members in the execution of their tasks related to the cell.
  • Inculcate discipline among all the students for a grievance free & friendly college environment.

Procedure for receiving the complaint/grievances

  • Initially general orientation/awareness programmes are conducted to make the students aware of the process and mechanism of complaints/grievances.
  • The following are various channels to receive the complaints/Grievances:
    • Suggestion boxes are placed at prominent places of the institute with lock and key and the day and time of opening the box generally once in fortnight in the presence of atleast two members of the committee (mostly one will be the Co-ordinator).
    • Can approach the committee members
    • Can approach the HOD or directly to the Principal.
  • The complaint/grievance should be received in the given format of written document or oral complaint. If it is an oral complaint at least 2 of the ICC members should listen and prepare a document and get the signature of the student. If thestudent is not willing to sign then the two members should sign on behalf of the student.
  • The complaints are noted in a register and get sorted out based on the complaint to the respective committees.
  • If the complaint is related to ICC it will be addressed immediately but if it is related to grievances it will be discussed in the committee to resolve effectively.
